Dot Watch Manual

Checking Time

The time on your Dot Watch is automatically synchronized to the time on your smartphone when paired. The time function continues to operate even after connection to the smartphone is lost. Press the select button to check the time. For the left two cells, each dot represents one hour. For the right two cells, each dot indicates 5-minute intervals.

E.g. For 03:42, (⠋⠀⠿⠉)the 3 pins on the first two cells tell that it's 3 o'clock, while the 8 pins on the left two cells tell that the minutes are between 40~44 minutes.

Press the select button one more time to check the exact minutes. The left two cells here display the minutes in tens, while the right two cells display minutes in ones. 

E.g. 42 minutes (⠛⠀⠉⠀) : The first two cells are the tens digit, and the right two cells are the units digit.


Receiving Notifications

The Dot Watch allows users to receive notifications from applications such as text messages and SNS notifications (e.g. Facebook, WhatsApp, weather apps, emails, etc.). Users can save up to 50 notifications on the Dot Watch. Notifications are displayed in braille with the application name, sender information, content, and timestamp, in that order. The most recent notification will always appear as the first notification. 

*Please note that notifications are synchronized with mobile devices. Therefore, messages that are read from mobile devices are deleted from the Dot Watch. You can check notifications from different applications such as messages from WhatsApp, Facebook, emails, and more. 

Turn the Dot Crown counterclockwise once to arrive at the notifications menu. Enter the menu by pressing the select button. Here, you can count the total number of notifications. The second cell represents the tens digit and the third and fourth cells are used to count the units digit. 

E.g. For the number 27, users can count two dots in cell 2 and seven dots in total in cells 3 and 4.


Stopwatch

Follow the guidelines below to use the Stopwatch function in Tactile Mode. From the standby status, turn the Dot Crown counterclockwise twice to access the stopwatch function, and  (⠀⠸⠇⠀) will appear on the screen. Press the select button to enter the stopwatch function, and you will notice that all the pins are placed down. Then, press the select button to start the stopwatch. The first cell on the left indicates minutes and the second cell indicates seconds in tens. The right two cells indicate seconds in ones. To pause while the stopwatch is operating, press the select button once. To resume, press the select button again. Press and hold the select button to reset. Press the select button to start a new cycle. Please note that the stopwatch will continue to run when left un-paused. Once the stopwatch reaches 7 minutes, it will automatically be dismissed. 


Timer

Follow the guidelines below to use the 4-minute timer function in Tactile Mode. From standby status, turn the Dot Crown counterclockwise three times to look for the timer function and (⠯⠭⠀⠀) will appear on the screen. Press the select button to activate the timer. The timer will begin and dot 1 of the first cell will start blinking. The screen will change as time passes:

One row will appear every 30 seconds.

When the countdown is complete, timeout (⠀⠀⠭⠽) will be displayed. To end the timer, press the select button, or it will automatically end after 5 minutes. Please note that the timer will continue to run in the background when left un-paused. 

Memo

Create a memo on the Dot App and check your memo on the Dot Watch. To access a particular memo, turn the Dot Crown counterclockwise four times. Enter the menu by pressing the select button. Here, you can count the total number of notifications. The second cell represents the tens digit and the third and fourth cells represent the units digit. You may save up to 10 memos.

E.g. memo 8: Users can count 0 dots in cell 2 and eight dots in total between cells 3 and 4.


Other

[Receiving Calls]

When you have an incoming call, the Dot Watch will vibrate and the display will have a horizontal line followed by two alternating dots on the last cell. By pressing the home button, you can reject the call. By pressing the select button, the caller ID will be displayed. If the contact is saved on your mobile device, the name will appear in braille. If not, the number will appear in braille. To receive the call at this time, press the select button once again. 

(iOS) While checking the caller ID, press the select button to receive the call or home button to reject the call. After receiving or rejecting the call, the display will go back to the home screen.

[Alarms]

You can set up to ten alarms on the app. At the set time, the alarm will go off on the Dot Watch and a rectangle will appear on the first two cells, along with vibrations. Users can count the dots on the third and fourth cells to figure out the alarm umber. At this time, if there is no user input after pressing the select button, the alarm will reoccur after 5 minutes. Turn the alarm off by pressing the home button or it will automatically stop after 5 minutes.

[Find My Smartphone]

When your mobile device is connected to the Dot Watch, press both the home button and the select button simultaneously twice and the smartphone will vibrate with an audible alarm. Use this function to easily locate your smartphone.


Options and Setup

[Switching Watch Modes]

Press the home button -- select button -- home button in that order and hold the select button to switch the watch mode to Tactile Mode/Braille Mode. The device will vibrate to notify you that the mode has been changed. You can switch back to Braille Mode/Tactile Mode by repeating the command process laid out above. You can also configure this in the app.

[Switching to Reverse Mode]

Press the buttons in the following order to switch between the standard mode and the reverse screen mode: press the home button twice -- select button twice -- home button twice -- select button twice -- then press and hold the select button. 

*Note that the select button and home button positions are reversed, as well as the touch sensors, Dot Crown, and the cell display. You can also configure this in the app.

[Setting Time]

When the Dot Watch is connected to your mobile device, you cannot manually set the time and date. Two quick vibrations will indicate that you cannot access manual settings. Please remember that your Dot Watch is automatically synced to your phone's time and date. 

*When moving to a different time zone, please re-pair your Dot Watch to your phone to re-synchronize the new time zone and date. 

To set the time manually when using the Dot Watch standalone, press and hold both the select button and the home button at the same time. The square tactile display will indicate that you will be manually setting the time. Press select to enter the hour setting screen. Here, turn the Dot Crown and set the hour. When complete, press the select button again and now set the minutes. Here, the first and second cells will represent the tens digit. Use the touch sensors to set the desired number in the tens digit for minutes. To set the units digit which is represented by the third and fourth cells, use the Dot Crown to set the desired number in the units digit for minutes.

[Bluetooth Signal]

It is recommended that you turn off the Bluetooth signal when using the Dot Watch without connecting it to a mobile device. When your screen shows the Dot Watch's Bluetooth connection status, press and hold the select button. The display will indicate a straight horizontal line and users will not be able to connect the Dot Watch to any mobile device. Also, it is highly recommended that you turn off Bluetooth signal after disconnecting Bluetooth from the mobile device.

[Reset]

    1) Resetting Bluetooth

To connect the Dot Watch to another mobile device, you need to initialize the Bluetooth memory stored in the Dot Watch. From standby status, turn the Dot Crown clockwise twice to get to the Bluetooth connection status screen. Press and hold both the select button and the home button simultaneously at the Bluetooth connection status screen, and all the pins will come up along with a vibration to indicate that the initialization is complete.

    2) Master Resetting

Make sure the Dot Watch is turned off. Press and hold both the home button and the select button until the Dot Watch is turned on. This resets all the Dot Watch settings back to default settings. It is recommended that you do NOT master reset the Dot Watch while it is still connected via Bluetooth. Everything, including time, watch mode (Braille or Tactile), date, output settings, standby duration, Bluetooth information, will reset to default.
